The Belgian police would have been warned by Dutch colleagues. But the national unit of the police in the Netherlands could not say anything about that on Monday evening.
VTM journalist Faroek Özgünes said on Monday that the Dutch extremists thought DPG Media would know more about the hiding address of the Belgian virologist Marc van Ranst in hiding. He is in hiding because the fugitive soldier Jurgen Conings, who would cherish extreme right-wing sympathies and would like to take up arms against virologists and politicians, would have it on him. Last week, Van Ranst drew attention in the Netherlands with a twitter row with Willem Engel, one of the leaders of the resistance against the Dutch corona policy.
Property vacated
The DPG Media headquarters in Antwerp was evacuated on Monday evening. It has since been released, but there is still police surveillance. According to the Belgian newspaper De Morgen, offices of DPG in the Netherlands were also more strictly guarded. DPG Nederland was not available late Monday evening for an explanation. Earlier in the evening, both the Belgian and Dutch spokespersons for the company announced that the threat was only directed at the Belgian location in Antwerp and not the Dutch branch of DPG Media.
