Jakarta –
Threadscompetitor applications Twitter from Meta, continues to break records to date. Only two days since its release, Threads already has 70 million users.
This new achievement was revealed directly by CEO Meta Mark Zuckerberg. In his post on Threads, Zuckerberg seems surprised to see the rapid adoption of Threads.
“70 million registrants until this morning. It’s really beyond our expectations,” Zuckerberg said in his post on Thread, as quoted detikINET, Saturday (8/7/2023).
This achievement makes Threads the fastest growing application in the world. This position was previously held by ChatGPT which took two months to get 100 million monthly active users.
Previously Threads was reported to have 44 million users within 24 hours of its release. In addition, Meta’s internal data shows that this social media application is also flooded with 95 million posts and 190 million likes from tens of millions of users.
The explosion in the number of users Threads in a short time also assisted with its integration with Instagram which has about two billion monthly active users. Users can create a Threads account by logging in using their Instagram account and bringing their following and followers list.
Due to the rapid increase in users, it is predicted that Threads will not take long to overtake Twitter. According to its last public financial report before Elon Musk’s buyout, Twitter has 238 million monetizable monthly active users.
“Meta only needs 1 in 4 Instagram users to use Threads each month to become as big as Twitter,” said Insider Intelligence analyst Jasmine Enberg, as quoted by CNBC.
Threads also still has a lot of room to grow its users. This app is still not available in the European Union due to issues related to the Digital Markets Act’s data privacy rules.
