As Twitter faces a decline in interest and major changes, Threads has positioned itself as a potential alternative, providing a full-featured experience previously available for free on Twitter, now known as X.
Soon, the Direct Message (DM) feature will be added to the app, allowing users to chat with each other. Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, confirmed this news in a entrevista con The Washington Postfurther increasing the interest of users to take advantage of the new features of the application.
In another interview, Mosseri made it clear that Threads is not intended to replace Twitter. Rather, its goal is to serve as “a public square for communities on Instagram that never adopted Twitter.”
Why are DMs so important in today’s context?
In a context where X no longer allows you to send more than 500 private messages a day, adding this feature is a direct move in the competition for being the social network of choice for microblogging.
The paid version ‘Twitter Blue’, now known only as ‘Blue’, is the only one that enables sending unlimited direct messages. Considering that this feature will be completely free on Threads, users could migrate to a space where there will be no limits, regardless of whether you pay or not.
A competition on the rise
While in X users face limitations in sending private messages, Threads is emerging as an option that will allow more fluid communication without restrictions in the field of microblogging.
Threads’ focus on more intimate and connected interaction could be the factor that attracts new users looking for a richer and more complete experience in the world of social networks.
