Still working on it a Saints Row 2 rerelease to make the game playable on PC on modern systems (free for all Saints Row 2 owners on Steam). There are also some minor graphical improvements (decent widescreen support, support for resolutions higher than 1920×1080, increased draw distance). As a bonus, all DLC (which only came out on Xbox 360) is also included. GameSpy support is being replaced with Steamworks for online multiplayer. Nothing else is removed. This way you can still play directly on a LAN, and all the original music is still in the game (unlike some lame AAA reissues).
The driver is IdolNinja, the community manager who personally behind the Gentlemen of the Row patch for the original game, which made the Xbox 360 version’s brackish port as playable as it could be on PC (and added a lot of bonus stuff). The sad news is that he is dying. He is still working on the patch for as long as possible, and has also made preparations for transfer.
I’m actually looking forward to this a lot more. 3 and 4 were a bit too much ‘out there’ (and milky in terms of DLC), while part 2 was still about the essence of the series.
Saints Row 2 has to be the cheesiest co-op experience I’ve ever had. You were not bored for a minute while playing.
