Thousands protest in Vienna against mandatory vaccination and partial closure | Europe | DW

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Vienna this Saturday (04.12.2021) to protest against the current closure in Austria and the government’s plans to impose mandatory vaccination against covid-19, a measure that is expected to come into force. since February.

More than 40,000 protesters took part in several of the protests that had been called in this third consecutive weekend of demonstrations in the Austrian capital, according to the police.

The security forces deployed 1,200 officers and specified that some protesters had thrown “pyrotechnic objects” at them, to which the police responded with pepper spray. Several people were arrested.
