RS Macedonia did not welcome France’s proposal for a compromise with Bulgaria to lift the veto. The opposition staged a massive protest, and according to unconfirmed reports, about 90,000 people are marching through the streets of Skopje.
Tonight, the opposition VMRO-DPMNE convened a protest demanding the resignation of the government and early elections. A formal reason is the refusal of Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski to state the position of the cabinet on the French proposal to lift the Bulgarian veto.
“Only after Bulgaria says its position, then we will say ours,” said Foreign Minister Buyar Osmani.
“I do not want our positions to be abused in the debate in Sofia, nor to show our positions now, without knowing what the positions of each of the member states will be. It was decided that we should work with the member states now, but we will give our position after everyone hears about the text and after the analysis is over, “he explained, but the opposition accepts such an attitude as raving about the issue.
