Thousands protested in Austria against the planned compulsory immunization
–
Nearly 40,000 people protested today in several Austrian cities against mandatory coronavirus vaccination and restrictive measures, APA reported.
The largest action was in Graz, where about 30,000 people gathered in one of the largest demonstrations in the city since 1945.
Between 5,000 and 6,000 protesters were in Klagenfurt, according to police estimates, and about 3,000 in St. Poelten.
Due to the fourth wave of the pandemic and to avoid the collapse of the health system against the background of record morbidity, Austria announced from November 22 to December 12 a nationwide lockdown, which caused public discontent. Authorities also plan to make vaccination against COVID-19 mandatory from February 2022.
