Thousands of Russian soldiers surrender, calls the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense hotline

KIEV, KOMPAS.com – One thousand Russian army called surrender to Ukraine on call direct line provided by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

This was stated by the representative of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Andriy Yusov in an interview with the television channel FREEDOM Monday (10/03/2022).

Yusov said, direct line was provided by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense a few weeks ago, as reported by Jerusalem post.

The Russian soldiers who called direct line According to Yusov, these come from various backgrounds, from soldiers waiting to be deployed to those on the battlefield.

He added that so far more than 2,000 Russian soldiers have confessed to giving up by calling the hotline. And the number continues to grow day by day.

In some cases, Yusov continued, they called the soldiers’ wives direct line to inquire about the safety of surrender from their husbands.

Yusov said Ukraine will follow the protocols of the Geneva Conventions and allow surrendered Russian soldiers to access health services.

Surrendered Russian soldiers could also contact their family or relatives.
