The Plaza de Los Héroes in Rancagua became the epicenter of fun for families last Saturday, August 10, when thousands of children accompanied by their families enjoyed the celebration of Children’s Day, a free event open to the community organized by the Municipality of Rancagua.
A circus show, Zumba, inflatable and mechanical games, a gamer station and the great show by Sinergia Kids and Luli Pampín were part of the initiative that aimed to provide a space for recreation and fun for Rancagua families.
At the event, councilor and mayor-elect Emerson Avendaño stressed that “it is important for the municipality to promote both the rights and recreational activities for our children, because childhood is our present and our future. The Plaza de Los Héroes connects us all and today it has become the epicenter of the celebration of childhood, together with families, together with all the people of Rancagua.”
For her part, the councillor and official mayor, Valentina Cáceres, said that “we had an incredible day where the boys and girls of our commune took over the Plaza de Los Héroes and the public space, in a great team effort, of healthy living and also a meeting point for Rancagua families. So I am very proud of this type of initiatives where we take over the public space with joy, with movement and above all with a smile.”
Likewise, Carlos Arellano, president of the Municipal Council’s Committee on Children and Adolescents, said that “we wanted to celebrate a special day for our boys and girls, and it is also a day on which those of us who are fathers and mothers should reflect, because I believe that this day should exist all year round.”
In addition, Councilman Diego Rivera, who participated in this activity, said that “it is extremely important that families return to the center of Rancagua, to the plaza precisely, in what is a family celebration, with activities ranging from the youngest to the oldest.”

Andrés Quezada said: “I think it’s really cool that these types of activities are organized; we come from Requínoa and we had a great time.”
Finally, Andrea, another attendee at the event, said: “I think it is an important recreational activity for children. The stands selling popcorn, lollipops and cotton candy were a success because children like them, and the truth is that it is a very entertaining afternoon.”
