As in Europe, thousands of protesters took to the streets in the United States on Saturday to support the Palestinians in the ongoing clashes with Israel, the same day Joe Biden spoke to the two sides.
Some 2,000 demonstrators notably gathered in New York, in the Brooklyn district, chanting “Free Palestine” and waving Palestinian flags.
Gatherings were also held in other American cities, including Boston and Washington.
“Palestinians have the right to live freely and the children of Gaza must not be killed,” responded Alison Zambrano, a 20-year-old student who came from neighboring Connecticut to demonstrate in New York.

“I am telling Mr. Biden and his government to stop supporting the murder. Support the victims, stop the oppression,” added Mashhour Ahmad, a 73-year-old Palestinian who has lived in New York for 50 years, in the crowd.
Joe Biden on Saturday expressed his “great concern” to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the escalation of violence in Israel and Gaza, also telling Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas that Hamas must “stop firing rockets”.
Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of several cities in Canada and Europe on Saturday. In France, around 22,000 people demonstrated, including some 3,000 in Paris. In London there were thousands, as well as in Berlin and Madrid.
