Thousands of people say goodbye to DMX in Brooklyn – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – Thousands of people gathered Saturday to bid farewell to hip hop legend DMX in a massive motorcycle procession to the Barclays Center ahead of the public commemoration.

The coffin with DMX was transported in the vehicles known as monster truck alongside hundreds of motorcyclists and led by the rap group Ruff Ryders from DMX’s hometown of Yonkers to Brooklyn Stadium.

The procession drew onlookers who took to the streets along the route.

The memorial was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and the event was closed to the public and restricted to only close friends and family due to pandemic conditions.

Organizers said in a statement that they will follow New York’s COVID-19 testing guidelines and protocols. The statement said New York State limits indoor stadiums to 10% of capacity.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on the channel the YouTube the DMX.

No details were given on who can introduce himself or speak during the farewell.

DMX, whose birth name is Earl Simmons, died on April 9 after suffering “catastrophic cardiac arrest.” He spent several days on life support after being rushed to a New York hospital from his home on April 2.
