The demand for winter holidays has already increased in September. “Now, at the start of the school year, when parents are learning the dates of the school and spring holidays, we are starting to sell ski tours. As for foreign ski stays, there is the greatest interest in Austria and Slovakia, and skiing in the French Alps is returning to fashion, ”said Eva Němečková, a spokeswoman for Čedok, for TN.cz.

According to NEV-DAM spokesman Jan Bezděk, Czechs are also interested in winter holidays in the Czech Republic, but resorts in Italy, Austria and France are currently much more popular. “The interest in winter trips in the Alps is considerable, at this moment thousands of clients have already bought a holiday,” said Bezděk.

Thus, Czech tourists are obviously not afraid of another wave of pandemics and possible disruption of tours and holidays. But travel agencies also count on possible complications. “Of course we are responding to the current situation. Some travel agents do not yet sell winter tours due to the current situation regarding coronavirus. “We will only include winter ski destinations in the offer, it will be primarily Austria, Italy and domestic stays. The offer will be published later this year than we are used to, because in view of the threat of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, we try to prepare the most flexible offer so that in case clients have to cancel the holiday due to the epidemiological situation , ”Explained FIRO-tour spokeswoman Lucie Frnochová.

In terms of capacity, there are still free stays. But good hotels at bargain prices are disappearing fast. “Winter tours are characterized by the fact that, unlike summer holidays, there is almost no last-minute. The vast majority of tours are sold during the autumn months and during the winter, the last vacancies are actually being sold out. At the moment, there is interest especially in accommodation directly on the slopes and also in capacities with an excellent price / performance ratio, “concluded Jan Bezděk.
