Tropical temperatures of 21 degrees attracted thousands of people to Berlin’s parks on Sunday night. Among the celebrants were many football fans who had previously seen Germany win over Portugal in the European Championship. Hundreds of police officers checked compliance with the corona rules in the parks. By Sunday morning, around 460 emergency services were out and about in the city, as a police spokesman announced.
It is a challenge for the police themselves to regularly know the latest corona rules. One could therefore not always expect that from people. Most of them acted cooperatively when approached by the police. The spokesman named around 40 administrative offenses and 140 person checks in the open air. These figures relate to the period from Saturday morning to Sunday morning.

There have also been inadmissible music events and some place evictions. On Sunday night, for example, there were numerous people in James-Simon-Park in Berlin-Mitte and in Park am Gleisdreieck in Kreuzberg and Schöneberg. The police spokesman referred to the weather conditions and said the police were prepared for the rush. A report of the “B.Z.”The police spokesman did not want to confirm that the park had been vacated around 1 a.m. because of too many people.
A serious incident occurred early on Sunday morning in the Park am Gleisdreieck in Berlin-Kreuzberg: around 2:45 a.m., four people were injured there in a knife attack. According to police, a 52-year-old had attacked a 14-year-old girl with a knife. The attacked woman was injured in the back. When her two 18- and 19-year-old companions wanted to help, they were also injured by knife wounds. The attacker was ultimately arrested.

Despite party permission, there were no longer queues in front of the Berlin clubs on Saturday evening. After the long compulsory Corona break, a few dozen party-goers waited in front of the Golden Gate under the train tracks at Jannowitzbrücke station to enter. In the club’s garden, the guests danced to techno beats wearing masks at the “1st Open Air Garden 2021”, as a dpa reporter reported. In front of the popular techno clubs Wilde Renate, About Blank and Holzmarkt 25, however, there weren’t many night owls to be seen during the night.
The atmosphere in the garden of the Wild Renate seemed more cozy than exuberant from the outside. In the reggae club Yaam, people enjoyed the weather on the Spree. Since Friday it has been possible to dance outside in the Berlin clubs. 250 visitors are possible, one of the prerequisites is a negative corona test.
