The 26-year-old made up for the victory in the classic Amstel Gold Race with Michal Kwiatkowski. In the live images, it was impossible to say who crossed the finish line first.
The riders stood next to each other in the finish area. There they waited for the message of who had won.
Suddenly Cosnefroy burst into wild cheers. While team members in AG2R came to congratulate the Frenchman, Kwiatkowski shook his head in disappointment.
Then came the target photographs. They emphatically stated that it was Kwiatkowski who had won.
– Is it possible?! No, poor Cosnefroy, commented on TV 2’s Christian Paasche.

The Pole points out that there also had to be a goal photo for then Tom Pidcock and Wout van Aert made up for the victory last year. Then it was Pidcock, Kwiatkowski’s teammate in INEOS Grenadiers, who pulled the shortest straw.
– I learned a little from last year with Tom in mind, that you have to wait. I still can not believe it. Maybe they will take the target photo again, the 31-year-old says with a smile.
No Norwegians took part in the race.
