Those who write the history of the Dunakeszi Student Quarter – Dunakanyar Region

From the point of view of city history, we witnessed an outstanding event on August 31, when Dunakeszin began technician training with the ceremonial opening of the VSZC Lányi Ferenc Technical and Vocational Training School at the Attila József Cultural Center.

In the educational institution, which started with two classes, 12 teachers teach the science of economics and management, as well as IT and telecommunications for the 48 students in the building at Fő út 143, but the largest education center in Hungary, the Dunakeszi Student Quarter, is already under construction, and they can move into it in September 2024 also “Girls”. On September 5, the teachers and students of the school visited their future home, the gigantic school center, which is being built at a good pace. I asked the director Eszter Szekeres-Joó and the students about the experiences.

– They have become active players in local history in many ways, since technician training began in Dunakesz at the VSZC Lányi Ferenc Technical and Vocational Training School, which is the IV. In September 2024, together with the Béla Király Bilingual High School, it will be able to move into the currently under construction Dunakeszi Student Quarter, which was viewed today. As a director, how do you experience these historic moments, what are your impressions, did you like the school being built? I asked the director Eszter Szekeres-Joó.

Director Eszter Szekeres-Joó

“It’s fantastic, the sight is amazing!” When we think that the Váci Vocational Training Center Lányi Ferenc Technical School and Vocational School in Dunakesz will be able to continue its activities here next year – in addition to the current two classes, along with three more classes – then we can only marvel and look at this miracle with wide-open eyes. We are incredibly excited! Everything is new even in our current, temporary location, but here… the sight of the school under construction fills us with great excitement. The students and colleagues are very much looking forward to moving into this building next year, which, by the way, has an amazing appearance. It is like the interior of a five-star hotel, from the mechanical workshop to the sports hall, the public spaces and the classrooms are absolutely 21st century. century both in design and appearance.

Eszter Szekeres-Joó: We look at this miracle with a wide-open view

– It is clear from your words that the high-level technical background will be ensured, but will the professional background and the number of teachers be sufficient for high-quality education in the future as well?

“I’m sure we won’t have any problems.” Already in the first round of recruitment, we very easily found colleagues who, as I said at the opening of the school year, came to us with passion, heart and soul and dedication to their profession. They see fantasy in this new challenge, they themselves want to develop professionally and renew themselves methodologically, so in this way I am not afraid that we will have problems with the composition of the teaching staff in the future.

– There are 48 students in the two starting classes. Where did the young people come from?

– Our finance department started with 19 people, and 29 people are studying in our IT department. Typically, they apply from Dunakeszi and its catchment area, Fót, Göd, but some come to us from Aszód or Erdőkertes.

Do they also go to Dunakesi from Asód?

– Yes, the parents bring the student every day.

This means that the school already has a huge reputation.

“Yes, I can confirm that.”

The “Girls” were informed about their future school by a specialist from the construction company

The start of technician training fills an old gap

But this also means that you are filling an old gap by starting technical school training.

– Yes, the city government originally had a vision and aspiration to provide the conditions for further education for a wide range of young people living in Dunakeszin, so that they would not have to travel to Budapest or Vác every day. With the launch of our school, technician training has also been solved locally. This is a huge step forward. The number of interested parties and applicants confirms the correctness of the idea.

Financial literacy students and their teachers

– In the past period, he taught at a member institution of the Váci Vocational Training Center in Szentendre. What did you experience, what did you perceive, what is the demand for technicians on the labor market?

– We see that the demand for technician training is constantly increasing, both from the parents’ and the students’ side. Thanks to our skills and preparation in education, we can respond quickly and efficiently to the demands of the labor market. Practice shows that already in the first year, we are contacted by the actors of the labor market in order to conclude a long-term agreement with the best prepared students.

Change is incredibly fast and constant in all areas of life, including in the economic sphere. To what extent can training follow this, is it even possible to prepare today’s students for the challenges that will arise in 10-15 years?

– I think that – as we say these days – one thing is always certain, and that is change. We can really prepare our students so that they will be able to deal flexibly with challenges that are not yet visible today. I don’t think anyone can say what will happen in five or ten years. But if we prepare the young people with our educational and educational work to be able to handle them well and properly, then we have equipped them with the knowledge they really need – said Eszter Szekeres-Joó, who revealed that she is very happy that, as a resident of Dunakesz, she can work with her fellow educators and the together with students, you can take an active role in the birth of the new school and the start of technician training.

The students were also impressed by the school town under construction

After the director, we were also interested in the opinions of the young people, who will be able to continue their studies in the wonderful school city in a year, who were visibly impressed by the sight of the Dunakeszi Student Quarter, home to the two high schools, the swimming pool, the two sports halls, the outdoor courts, and the community spaces..

– I really liked. I’m not exaggerating, even now I get goosebumps, this gigantic building has such a huge effect on me. I just looked at how huge it was, now I can’t even really see through this big labyrinth – said Lilián Szőke, who applied to the finance department of the vocational school, enthusiastically. The student from Dunakeszis said that it was clear to her that she should apply to VSZC Lányi Ferenc Technikum és Szakképzési Iskola.

Csanád Paulovits and Lilián Szőke

The same was confirmed by Csanád Paulovits from Göd.

“I can imagine my future in this school.” I was also impressed by the Dunakeszi Student Quarter, the enormous building complex consisting of seven buildings. I’m really looking forward to going to school here – said the young person who applied to the computer science class, who continued: – It’s also attractive to me that in the history of Dunakeszi, our class will be the first whose students enter this school. I will be one of the students to write my name in local history as an IT and Telecommunications student. I will be among the first to enter this new school and complete my studies here.

According to Csanád, the school equips them with such high-quality professional foundations that they will definitely be able to stand their ground on the labor market.

Lilián, although she does not yet know where she will use her financial knowledge, she does know that she made the right decision when she applied to this school.

“It’s a very good start.” In addition to studying and good grades, I concentrate on elite sports, as I play volleyball in Újpest. I am very happy that I go to high school in Dunakesz, because my whole family went to the high school in Radnót. There are nineteen of us in one class, and I already feel that we will be a very inspiring and good community. New teachers, new friends, new school. In a word, great! Lilián Szőke said with a big smile on her face.

– I agree with Lilián’s words, I also think we will be a very good and quite strong class community. We will achieve many things together, and it will be easy to achieve in a good community and such a fantastic school – we heard from Csanád Paulovits.
