Only people who have symptoms that can be directly linked to the new coronavirus will still be tested. The laboratories are overloaded.

Anyone who has close contact who is infected with the virus or who returns from a red zone will no longer automatically have to have a covid test taken. Only if you have symptoms of the new coronavirus yourself, you still have to be tested. The mandatory quarantine after high-risk contact will remain in force. It will also be extended from seven to ten days.
‘After that they have to be careful for another four days,’ said virologist Steven Van Gucht on Monday evening VTM News. ‘Anyone who does show symptoms should have themselves tested immediately.’
The ministers of health hope with this decision to reduce the pressure that is increasing significantly in the laboratories. Due to the sharp increase in tests – only Denmark is taking even more covid tests – the workload is untenable and waiting times are increasing. Those who are being tested now often have to wait 2 to 3 days for the result. “The system is over the limits,” Van Gucht confirmed. “The laboratories can no longer follow.”
In addition, a system is being looked into in which not only doctors and nurses, but also midwives and speech therapists, for example, can conduct corona tests. After all, there is now too much delay in administering the tests, according to the health ministers.
