Those responsible for the sensational robbery of the Dresden Museum have finally been captured – in the world

German police have announced that all suspects in connection with the sensational robbery of the Dresden Museum in 2019 have been arrested.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in an apartment in Berlin on Thursday for charges of aggravated theft and arson, police and the Dresden prosecutor’s office said.

The man had previously been convicted of stealing a gold coin at the Bode Museum in Berlin, but was at large pending an appeal.

Chief Prosecutor Jürgen Schmitt has stated that, according to investigators, all six people directly involved in the Dresden robbery have now been identified and detained.

In November 2019, two men broke into the Grünes Gewölbe (Green Vault) museum in Dresden Castle, known for its largest jewelry collection in Europe. The robbers with an ax smashed one of the showcases and robbed priceless sets of jewelry adorned with diamonds and rubies dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries.

Investigators are convinced that a gang of Arab criminals known as the Remmo clan is responsible for the robbery. The gang is also accused of hijacking the Canadian coin “Big Maple Leaf” in 2017 at the Bode Museum. It is modeled on the national symbol of the country and is one of the largest gold coins in the world.

Five suspects were arrested in Berlin late last year and in May this year.

Four of them are currently in pre-trial detention, but one is already serving a sentence for stealing the “Big Maple Leaf”.

Police are still looking for four possible peers whose identities have already been established. They investigated the crime scene before the theft and could be involved in robbery planning.
