Those over 18 years of age will already begin to receive a booster vaccine against Covid-19

Yesterday the Minister of Health reported that 78,059 third doses had been applied since last September 24, which began the process with health personnel who are in the front line, first responders, firefighters and those over 60.

The President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, affirmed this afternoon on his Twitter account that people over 18 years of age can now access the third dose vaccine against Covid-19.

“The third dose must be placed with a minimum of 4 MONTHS elapsed after the second dose has taken effect,” he said.

According to Bukele’s words, people who are in this population sector can make their appointments on the site http://vacunacioncovid19.gob.sv and if they do not remember the date, the system will assign them one.

“Remember that we have 160 vaccination centers, the Megacenter, 3 auto centers and 30 daily vaccination days throughout our country. We also have the option to get vaccinated on Sundays, “he added.

However, after its publication, several citizens responded that the system did not allow them to carry out the new management.

On September 24, the president announced the start of the application of the third dose, at the time focused on health personnel who are on the front line, volunteers from the relief corps, firefighters, military, police, people with chronic illnesses and over 60 years.

“Taking into account the success of the third dose in Israel, we have decided to start with a third dose in El Salvador,” he said at that time.

On September 16, the Minister of Health, Francisco Alabí, announced that the vaccine that will be applied as a booster will be different from the one used in the first doses and since then he has reiterated it in different interviews.

Yesterday Alabí, during an interview at YSKL, stated that “We have made an impressive progress” in the immunization process with the third dose.

According to the accounts of the Health official, at that time there were 78,059 third doses applied.

On the other hand, although Minister Alabí has ​​insisted that applying this third dose will raise the defenses of the population that receives it to avoid contagion against covid-19, there are warning voices from the national medical community, as explained by epidemiologist Wilfrido Clearly, there is no scientific evidence that demonstrates benefits of this practice of combining vaccines.

For now the only booster dose as a third dose that already has proven scientific support is Pfizer, provided that the first two doses have also been of that biological.
