Those involved in oil corruption allied themselves with opponents in Venezuela

Caracas. The Attorney General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, presented this Monday evidence that links those involved in corruption cases in the oil and crypto assets industry with opposition leaders.

“The actors who appear involved in this unfortunate political conspiracy, linked to PDVSA-Cripto corruption, first of all is the head of that mafia, (former Oil Minister Tareck) El Aissami,” he said.

At a press conference from the headquarters of the Public Ministry in the center of Caracas, the prosecutor pointed out that El Aissami’s representative with the opposition was the businessman Samark López.

He added that Julio Borges, Carlos Ocariz, Leopoldo López (in Spain) and Carlos Vecchio (in the United States) are involved in the opposition.

The prosecutor stated that former public officials such as Antonio Pérez Suárez (PDVSA), Joselit Ramírez (National Superintendence of Crypto Assets) and Hugbel Roa (deputy) maintained contact with James Story, who was in charge of the United States External Office for Venezuela in Bogota Colombia).

“The level of dedication with which they expressed themselves is astonishing. They spoke almost exhausted and carried away, almost like gods, to people like James Story who were a direct line to the United States to execute these plans that caused incalculable damage to Venezuela,” he commented.

Saab affirmed that the businessman Samark López, detained today, is the one who confessed the most about the case. In this sense, he presented audios of the telephone conversations held by those involved.

The prosecutor pointed out that during the first and second phases of the PDVSA-Cripto case, 66 people involved have been arrested.

Saab did not rule out new arrests and assured that now comes the preliminary hearing phase.
