Those injured in an explosion at a cement factory spoke

Two of the staff who was injured in the accident that happened last Tuesday at the Cienfuegos cement factory They gave their first statements to the official media from the hospital.

One of the interviewees was identified as Carlos Aguilar Sabina, 33 years old, who had burns on 12% of his body.

“My burns hurt less, thanks to the attention the doctors gave us; The medicines have been necessary, the oils, the cleaning of the burns. That’s why we’ve gotten better,” said the worker, who was considered the worst of the injured.

Another of the workers was identified as Hermes Rojas Campos, 52 years old, who suffered burns on 24% of his body and assures that he is grateful to the doctors who did not leave his side.

In this regard, Dr. Soraya Izaguirre Hernández, head of the burn service at the ‘Gustavo Aldereguía’ hospital, pointed out that Aguilar Sabina was a “young” patient, so he should not have any problems.

“It will be cured tomorrow,” said the doctor.

Regarding the other two patients, identified as Dionel Figueroa Calunga, 52 years old, in serious condition, and Francisco Díaz Urquiza, 60 years old, in critical condition, the doctor tells they are stable.

“We haven’t had any problems, they are being treated, today we started the third day of treatment with everything they need,” he said.

The media reports that one of the injured, identified as Alexei Aguilar Valdes, 53 years old, had burns on 5% of his body, but that he has already been released.

The only person killed during the explosion that occurred at the cement factory was identified as Raymundo Narciso Sarría, 61, who worked as an electrician for Engineering Construction Company No. 6.

The propagandistic nature of this report cannot be denied, as it was clear that the staff referred to the work done by health professionals, which is often seen in official notes.

However, the truth is very far from what is mentioned in the state newspapers, because the average Cuban usually encounters serious problems in the hospitals of the self-proclaimed medical power, where the drugs are missing and there is less and less medical equipment for care. for patients.

The difference with this case is that, because of the severity of the accident, and because it was reported by the independent media, the Castro government knows that there will be a lot of eyes on the patients, and therefore spares no expense. take care of their patients.
