While the debates on the 2016 budget are going on, the rulers are drowning in the topic of how to tie the expenses and the income so that we can calmly devote ourselves to our favorite activity – distributing euro funds. They brought politics down to the level of bacon and brandy, without caring about our main problem – the Bulgarian nation is disappearing, there is no young force for the Bulgarian economy. And raising taxes won’t save them – soon there will be no one to pay them. The demographic collapse in recent decades has claimed more “victims” than the wartime years. Healthcare, education, social policy, driving the economy are the big levers to overcome it. I understand that GERB and company find it difficult to deal with them. However, why did they refuse to take at least a few small steps that would not burden the budget.

First – the benefit for supporting a child from 1 to 2 years old should be equal to the minimum wage. Second, the families who have taken on the enormous responsibility of raising disabled children should receive 70% of the monthly allowance the minimum wage for the relevant month.

According to GERB, the mechanism of tying these social payments to the minimum wage was not good. We introduced it, they removed it. And for children with disabilities, it is an increase from BGN 240 to BGN 294 per month. What is the problem? As far as I remember and according to the World Bank, this mechanism is not good. Which then is good – should we leave everything to natural selection? And who survives? That is why I said that social policy is done with love. With love and responsibility for this nation that is disappearing, for those people who, despite the difficulties, give birth to children, for those parents who have the courage not to throw their problematic, difficult children to the social system to be raised by it. Politics in general should be done with love and responsibility towards people. Then we wonder why there is mass hatred towards politics today – well, because, for a very long time, Bulgarians have seen this lack of attitude towards them. And in this case it’s the same – social minister Kalfin preferred Brussels to Bulgaria when we have to talk about children and the demographic crisis, and that’s the most unfortunate thing.
