Geraint Thomas will cycle three half days on his exercise bike for a good cause next week. The 2018 Tour winner wants to raise money to support the National Health Service (NHS) in Great Britain.
INEOS, the main sponsor of Thomas’ team, makes disinfectants for the NHS during the corona crisis. Thomas (33) is going to raise money for that project.
“These are challenging times, of course. The NHS is doing a great job and our Team INEOS is working super hard to support hospitals across the country with disinfectants,” said Thomas in a video on Twitter.
“I also want to help a little bit and all I am good at is cycling,” said the Welshman. “That’s why I set up a sponsor trip. I start in my garage on Zwift at 7:30 am on Wednesday. I’m going to cycle for twelve hours for three days and all the money will go to NHS.”

Thomas dreads long sessions on exercise bike
Thomas is a bit apprehensive about his long sessions on the exercise bike. “I’ve never cycled for so long before, so I’m a little nervous. I’ll be pretty tight at the end of the day, but it’s all for a good cause.”
Thomas broadcasts everything via a live stream for three days. In the first hours that the donation website was opened, more than £ 8,000 (almost 10,000 euros) was donated.
