Thomas Tuchel will officially train the England National Team

The English Football Association (FA) has officially announced Thomas Tuchel as a coach England national team. Tuchel will start work as coach of the England national team on January 1, 2025.

“The FA has announced that UEFA Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel has become the new England men’s head coach, and will be supported by renowned England international coach Anthony Barry,” the FA wrote.

Tuchel does not coach the England national team directly. The German coach will officially coach the England national team on 1 January 2025. For the matches against Greece (14 November) and the Republic of Ireland (17 November), the England national team will continue to be coached by him interim coach Lee Carsley.

The FA selected Thomas Tuchel as England national team coach based on the decision of FA CEO Mark Bullingham and men’s national team technical director John McDermott.

“A secretive process, in which a number of candidates were interviewed, led by FA Chief Executive Mark Bullingham and technical director John McDermott, made Tuchel the preferred choice.

“The decision to hire Tuchel and Barry was approved by the FA Board early last week, with Tuchel signing his contract on Tuesday 8 October. “The announcement has been delayed to reduce confusion surrounding the international camp which has just ended,” the FA wrote.

Tuchel, who succeeded Chelsea for 1.5 seasons, said he was proud to be trusted by the FA to be the coach of the English national team.

“I am very proud to have been given the honor of leading the England national team. I have felt a personal connection to the game in this country for a long time. It is a a great honor to be given the opportunity to represent England, a very exciting group of talented players,” said Tuchel.

Tuchel collaborates with Anthony Barry, who has assistant status. Barry had been Tuchel’s assistant at Bayern Munich.
