Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes Chelsea could REMOVE Thomas Tuchel if he fails to lead the Blues to Champions League qualification this season.

Tuchel was hired by the Blues last month, and came to Stamford Bridge as Frank Lampard’s successor after Roman Abramovich ousted the club legend.

The former Borussia Dortmund and German PSG manager has enjoyed a solid start in West London, tying his debut match and winning the next four games.

This positive run of results has seen Chelsea book their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals and also move closer to one point out of the top four.

Lampard was fired with the Blues rapidly falling through the table, and Tuchel has fans once again dreaming of qualifying for the Champions League, a result that seemed very, very unlikely as recently as mid-January.

However, Ferdinand believes that not getting Chelsea into the top four could cost Tuchel his job in West London.

Working at BT Sport for their coverage of Saturday’s Leicester vs Liverpool Premier League clash, Ferdinand revealed his planned end-of-season table, with Chelsea in fifth place, out of the top four or Man City, Man United, Liverpool and Leicester.
