Thomas Seltzer’s Rock and Roll Tales: Life as an Artist, Author, and Turbonegro Bassist

ROCKEBOK: Thomas Seltzer is moving from Oktover publishing to the newly started Blank – and is ready with a book about his life as an artist in the autumn.

Thomas Seltzer (53) and Odd Magnus WIlliamson (42) are just some of the names that have already been signed to the new publishing house Blank.

– I am currently writing a book about my life as an artist, says author, presenter and Turbonegro bassist Thomas Seltzer.

He elaborates on the phone to VG:

– Things can get a bit spicy. A little “rocke tales” from year to year on a tour bus. There is a lot of mystery surrounding being an artist, so I want to poke at this a bit and give people an insight.

– There will of course be a lot from life with Turbo, and at the same time I will try to come up with some solid observations about popular culture. There will be thoughts, moods, emotions and colours, says Thomas Seltzer.

The book is scheduled to be published by the newly started publisher Blank already in the autumn.

STRONG AUTHOR DEBUT: Thomas Seltzer’s first book, “American Karmageddon”, was both critically acclaimed and spent several weeks on the bestseller list. Now he is changing publishers.

Seltzer emphasizes that there is no drama in his leaving Oktober publishing house – where he published the success “American Karmageddon” last year. As many as six publishers fought for the rights long before the book was finished.

Now he has signed with Blank, which was started by his own management Brandpeople together with Bonnier forlag.

– It was an honor to be able to publish a book in October, it is the creme de la creme. But when my management starts publishing, it was very natural for me to get on board and let the balloon go, says Thomas Seltzer and adds:

– It’s cool that people are starting publishing houses in 2023, and I would like to support my good partners. It may be that I will release something in October again later, says Seltzer.

Brandpeople has a wide range of artists and celebrities in its stable: Fredrik Skavlan, Sophie Elise, Leo Ajkic, Henriette Steenstrup, Pia Tjelta, Nicolay Ramm and Petter Northug to name a few.

Several of these also have a desire to publish books:

COLLABORATION: CEO Birgitte Bruusgaard of Brandpeople and CEO Alexander Even Henriksen of Bonnier norsk forlag are teaming up for the Blank imprint.

– Books have become an increasingly important format for our profiles, which otherwise work with communication on all imaginable platforms. A natural consequence of this development was to start a publishing house, says Brandpeople’s managing director, Birgitte Bruusgaard, in a press release.

In addition to Thomas Seltzer, Atle Pettersen, Odd Magnus Williamson and Henrik Thodesen are also already signed to the publisher. The latter two will publish Tina and Bettina’s school diary.

CEO Alexander Even Henriksen in Bonnier is very satisfied with the new collaboration.

– Here we get unique access to people who have a lot to convey: everything from doctors and psychologists, to writers, presenters, actors and influencers. And they understand content and storytelling, says Henriksen.
