Since the start of the school year in September 2023, a new lease of life has come to the Thomas Pesquet college, which was already on the rise.
Cyril Vilmant, the establishment’s principal education advisor and music enthusiast, wanted to launch a dynamic around free musical creation. Convinced that this could be a lever against school violence and that it could unite the middle school students, he made musical instruments available to them (in their free time, particularly during the lunch break). Some students had never seen or held a guitar and fell in love with it.
He then launched a call on social networks to all his instrumentalist and singer friends to offer the teenagers an improvised scene. He chose an acoustic and minimally amplified formula, provided equipment such as an electric guitar, an acoustic guitar, a cajon or even an electronic drum and he put Marie-Laure, Mya, Grégory, Joël, Fabrice, Alexandre and Nicolas, professional musicians who immediately responded to the call and who fully supported the project.
These artists came with their energy, their good humor and improvised several pieces for about an hour.
Doors open March 16
All the middle school students were thus able to benefit from a wonderful moment of discovery and sharing and become aware of their talents. This atypical experience generated collective joy and completely won over the public: students, staff and teachers savored this moment of musical conviviality and sincerely thank all the volunteer musicians who made this possible.
This musical interlude is only the beginning, other projects are emerging; they will complement and enrich those already present in many areas.
The head of the establishment and all the staff invite you to discover them on Saturday March 16 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. during the open days.
