Bayern Munich veteran Thomas Müller has licked his wounds following the bitter conclusion of the World Cup and is looking forward to the start of preparations for the rest of the Bundesliga season. The 32-year-old is already eyeing the Champions League cracker against PSG and trio of superstars Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar.
“In the last few weeks I have had many opportunities to think, a little more than usual,” writes Thomas Müller in his first newsletter in 2023. Why: With the German national team, the title dreams at the World Cup in Qatar presumably exploded soon. Müller reports: “The first two weeks were difficult, but time heals many wounds. At a certain point, disappointment gives way to optimism, the horizon opens up and then we can look to the future more carefully.”
On 6 January, FC Bayern will return to Doha for a short training camp, where coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team wants to prepare for their upcoming commitments.
Difficult matches against RB Leipzig (January 20), Cologne (January 24) and Eintracht Frankfurt (January 28) await in the Bundesliga, then the eighth cup final against Mainz 05 is scheduled for early February.

But the highlight comes two weeks later, with the Champions League round of 16 first leg against Paris Saint-Germain: “a real cracker,” said Thomas Müller. Against the star ensemble from Paris “will really crack”, Müller is “extremely hot”.
