The U21 national team commented on the speculation about a possible DFB comeback for Thomas Müller at the Olympic Games in Tokyo – and surprised with a statement.
U21 coach Stefan Kuntz spoke to Thomas Müller (30) about a possible assignment at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. “Yes, exactly. I spoke to him,” said Kuntz to Sport1, “but also to other experienced players with big names. They all rightly say that they want to wait until May to see how many Games they did, how their contract situation is and whether Olympia fits into their plans. “
Kuntz had put Müller on a list of around 50 possible candidates that had to be reported to the National Anti-Doping Agency by January 15. At the Olympic football tournament in summer, three players per team who were born before January 1, 1997 are allowed to participate.
