Thomas Holste-Malavasi is the new head of the grammar school on the market: Inauguration in mini-round – narrow

“It seldom happens that you can greet everyone by name during an introduction to the school principal without breaking the time frame,” said Holste-Malavasi with a humorous view of the 15 or so guests in the GaM auditorium.

A good three years ago, Holste-Malavasi, who teaches French and history, came to Bünde from Widukind-Gymnasium Enger as deputy headmaster. The previous GaM manager Karin Stallmann then retired last summer. She expressly thanked Holste-Malavasi for giving him excellent school management skills. For the last few months he was acting head of the grammar school. After acquiring the necessary qualifications, he then applied for the position of headmaster. As a result, the GaM school conference voted unanimously for him. Holste-Malavasi thanked the colleagues, the parents and the students for this vote of confidence. In the future he will be responsible for around 960 students and 75 colleagues.

After moving from Enger to Bünde, he was warmly welcomed at the Marktgymnasium, according to Holste-Malavasi: “It quickly became my school.” The fact that he is now holding the certificate of appointment is something that, as a teacher, he has neither can dream or hope. “I will live up to the trust placed in me. For me it is an obligation and not a mortgage. ”

The new headmaster also named two main focuses of his work: consistent digitization and the expansion of international contacts. “The latter is of course difficult at the moment.” However, he was able to set up an Erasmus project at the GaM last year. International experiences and stays are of enormous importance for the development of the personality and for the education of pupils, he emphasized.
