The city that never slept before the pandemic has finally awakened.
New York is back in life after over a year of corona crisis. And now the whole world should see that too! For the first time in its history, the city even ran an advertising campaign to get back to pre-crisis levels as quickly as possible.
The ex-GNTM juror and art director Thomas Hayo (52) has lived in the Big Apple for almost 30 years. The successful advertiser walked the streets of his adopted home for BILD and photographed the burgeoning life in Manhattan.

The people are even friendlier, says Hayo. “You always get a smile or an approving look, as if you wanted to say: ‘You see, we went through that together too!'”

According to Hayo, it will stay that way for a while. The city still belongs exclusively to its residents – a rare piece of luck. Because tourist entries are not yet possible again.
That should change soon, however. From September 14th, for example, the musical theaters on Broadway will be allowed to reopen after a break of one and a half years with an occupancy of 100 percent.
