He was one of the greatest entertainers and presenters on German television. And there is hardly anyone who hasn’t tuned in to “Wetten, dass…?” every Sunday and kept their fingers crossed for the numerous candidates. But the days of family television and humor are long gone; today Thomas Gottschalk (74) causes shame and horror among some of his viewers at the time.

It’s not his colorful suits that are to blame, but rather his controversial statements about sexism and women. He shocked many former fans with sentences like “touched purely for business purposes” – posters have now appeared in North Rhine-Westphalia. The moderator gets his punishment.
NRW: Public criticism of TV icon
The activists have done a great job in North Rhine-Westphalia, because huge posters are hanging not only in Cologne, but also in Hesse (Frankfurt am Main). Thomas Gottschalk then smiles into the camera with his curly blonde head.

Nevertheless, the former “Wetten, dass…?” star is in the negative spotlight here. The fictional magazine cover not only resembles the news magazine “Der Spiegel”, but also advertises with a rather negative headline. “Der Flegel” (the title of the “newspaper”) has the caption “The case of the service grab privilege”.
But that’s not all: on the supposed page teasers on the right edge of the picture there are sentences like “Bet that physical contact doesn’t have to be consensual?” Who is behind the campaign? It is the group “Dies irae”, which incidentally comes from the Latin “Day of Wrath”.
“Since I was 15”: Thomas Gottschalk reacts to public ridicule
Not only many people from North Rhine-Westphalia have already seen the posters, users on Instagram are also discussing the Gottschalk mockery intensively. And this seems to be well received by many people. “Great!”, or “Mega!”, many people write. But not only that, they also tagged the presenter’s Instagram account and hoped for his reaction. And he responded. He wrote in one post: “I haven’t ‘groped’ a woman since I was 15, either on business or privately!”
