Elbert was born in Aschaffenburg and comes from the Sankt Barbara curate in Wenighösbach. After graduating from secondary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a commercial assistant for data processing. He then attended the vocational school in Aschaffenburg and studied business administration and law at the Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences until 2008.
After graduating with a degree in business administration, he worked as an employee at the Börsen-Zeitung in Frankfurt am Main. In 2012, Elbert moved to the Bundesbank in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf, where he worked in the area of federal securities until he entered the Würzburg seminary in 2014.
From 2015 to 2020 he studied Catholic theology in Würzburg and Friborg (Switzerland). During his studies, Elbert was mainly involved in the youth education center in Volkersberg and in the hospital pastoral care of the Juliusspital. He completed his diaconate internship in the parish community “Holy Spirit – Rauhenebrach”. At the same time, he is undergoing training to become an emergency pastor. bishop dr Franz Jung ordained Elbert as a priest on June 4, 2022 in Würzburg’s Kiliansdom. Since then, Elbert has worked as a chaplain in the pastoral area of Haßberge Süd.
