Jakarta –
Coach Persija Jakarta Thomas Doll apologize to Shin Tae-yong for mentioning the tactician Indonesian National team it as a clown.
Doll expressed his disappointment about the summons for the U-20 Indonesian National Team players in a press conference, Saturday (11/2/2023). There were nine Persija players who were summoned where the Kemayoran Tigers objected.
Doll criticized Shin’s absence when Persija held a virtual meeting with the National Team coach team on Tuesday (7/2). Doll felt that Persija was not appreciated.
In fact, according to him, the meeting could produce a solution to the problem of summoning Persija players to the Training Camp for the AFC U-20 Cup and the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
Doll apologized that his statement had caused controversy. The German coach feels that his criticism can lead to multiple perceptions.
He realized that it was perceived in a personal context and that was not good.
“I want to apologize for my previous words where I called him a clown,” said Doll in a statement released by Persija.
“I feel that my words were exaggerated. I criticized him personally and this is not true. It was something that was not good and for that I apologize. Both to Coach Shin and the Indonesian football community.”
Thomas Doll emphasized that he and Persija have a total commitment to the National Team but remain 100 percent. The Kemayoran Tigers will provide playing minutes in the League 1 competition so that players are ready for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup and 2023 U-20 World Cup.
