One of the greatest Norwegian ski stars of all time had to settle for a position right off the podium – after a duel with TV 2’s Marte Bratberg, who burst into tears as she went on.

– I did not believe what I heard, there were so many emotions at once, Bratberg says to VG, after having dried most of the tears.

Four dance participants were slimmed down to three on TV 2 on Saturday night. Alsgaard pulled the shortest straw.

– I think this was very deserved and a very good result, said the ski veteran when the result was ready and the fourth place was a fact.

– I have been able to take part in a journey so much further than I could dare to dream of, Alsgaard admitted.

– It has been very difficult, and I would have had a very bad conscience if it was me who went on!

Thus, it will be the semifinals of Marte Bratberg, Nate Kahungu and Andreas Wahl next weekend.

Fight against fear

There was a dance duel between Alsgaard and Bratberg – and she could cheer for at least one more final night. It was Alsgaard’s first duel.

To VG, he says that “Skal vi danse” has not been a dance competition for him.

– The fight along the way has been against my fears and myself, and in that sense this is a great victory for me, Alsgaard says.

After the first dance, he received praise from the judges, including for an open look and a smile in place.

– Today I cost myself, was on the plus side, and it was the first time. The three who are left now are good at dancing, on a completely different level than I can show on broadcasts, and then this is very fair. There is not one calorie in my body that is sorry for this.

Alsgaard now promises not to use a ton of what he has learned in recent months.

– I think I put the dance shoes on the shelf, he laughs.

All four judges said they thought Bratberg came out best in the duel.

– If they had asked me I would have said the same, I would also have had Marte on, Alsgaard says.

– Norway’s handsomest

The new “Good evening Norway” profile took to the tears when the advancement became clear.

– I thought it was impossible to beat Thomas, says Bratberg.

– He is Norway’s handsomest ski hero, with a heart of gold. And then I fell so in love with him, so I was sorry to lose him. A few tears to move on, and right in front of me sat the mom and dad, so there were many emotions at once.

– Who from “Good evening Norway” will interview you if you win?

– Hahaha! It must be Niklas Baarli.

Last Saturday it was Michael Andreassen who left the competition.

In tonight’s program, Thomas Alsgaard and dance partner Rikke Lund danced salsa and rumba, to a limited score from the judges, 29 and 30 points respectively.

Nate Kahungu and dance partner Helene Spilling dealt with quickstep and Argentine tango, and got 34 and 40 points in reward from the pros. It was Kahungu’s second “full score” for the season.

Andreas Wahl and dance partner Mai Mentzoni got the evening’s best score from the judges, with two 38 points for their salsa and Viennese waltz efforts.

Marte Bratberg and dance partner Benjamin Jayakoddy swung with Argentine tango and quickstep, with 38 and 34 points in win.
