Thom Haye’s chance to play in the Champions League after being linked with Dinamo Zagreb

Tom Haye is reported to be targeting Dinamo Zagreb. Is there a chance for the Indonesian midfielder to feature in the Champions League?

Croatian media, sportreferring to Zagreb watching Thom Haye this summer. The 29-year-old is aiming to strengthen the midfield with the nickname Modri.

Thom Haye does not have a club until now, after leaving Heerenveen. The player, who obtained an Indonesian passport at the end of last year, has been linked with many clubs, with Zagreb being the latest.

Zagreb itself is not a small club in Europe. The club coached by Sergej Jakirovic is the most successful team in the Croatian League, with 25 league champions.

Last season, Zagreb won the Croatian League so they will have a chance to appear in the Champions League this season. Currently, the team that Luka Modric plays for has a chance to appear in the first round.

Zagreb began its work in the Champions League this season from the playoffs. Against Qarabag, Zagreb took a 3-0 lead in the first leg.

If they win again in the second leg, then Dinamo Zagreb appear in the main round of the Champions League. If so Tom Haye joining, he will in fact be the first Indonesian player to compete in the main round of the Champions League.

Thom Haye himself has officially been an Indonesian player since the end of last year. He was naturalized because he has Indonesian blood from his grandparents, who came from Solo and Sulawesi.

He already has 3 caps with the Indonesian National Team, which he played in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian Zone. He has also scored one goal for the Garuda team.

If it doesn’t go to Dinamo Zagreb, Tom Haye still linked to many clubs. Starting from Como, AZ Alkmaar, Besiktas, Sivasspor, and finally Fortuna Sittard, the clubs that reported interest in giving him a place.
