Thoha, the mastermind of a deceptive fraud case teller bank in Surabaya, East Java, revealed the use of Rp. 320 million in cash that belonged to Muin Zachry. Thoha admitted buying an iPhone to play gambling.
Reported detikJatim, Wednesday (25/1/2023), Thoha revealed this when asked by the chairman of the panel of judges, Marper Pandiangan. Marper asked how the money that had been stolen from Muin was used.
“Part of it I bought for iPhone 13 Pro Max and Vivo A57. To pay for my child’s fees at the Islamic boarding school, pay off my debts, and play gambling. The remaining Rp. 48 million was confiscated as evidence,” said Thoha in answer to Marper’s question.
Marper then asked how long it took Thoha to spend around Rp. 275 million besides the rest of the money that became evidence?
“About 2 glorious months,” said Thoha.
Previously, in court, Setu admitted that he was forced by Thoha to disguise himself and trick him teller bank. Setu admits that Thoha gave Rp. 5 million in cash.
“I want it because I was given Rp. 5 million,” said Setu.
Previously, President Director of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) Jahja Setiaatmadja believed teller has carried out the task according to the procedure.
“This is fraud and customer negligence. We believe and defend it teller we weren’t wrong,” Jahja told him detikFinanceFriday (20/1).
Jahja emphasized that the incident was theft of customer data due to negligence. According to him, BCA could be asked to act as a witness.
Apart from that, according to Jahja, as a customer, you should carefully save your KTP, PIN, and passbook.
Executive Vice President of Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility of BCA Hera F. Haryn revealed that the case is currently still under trial in court.
“We respect the legal process that is currently underway so that BCA cannot yet provide a response regarding the material or subject matter of the case until the court decision is out,” he said.
