Zwickau installation artist Henrike Naumann (38) presents an exhibition in New York dealing with the attack on the Capitol.
Zwickau/New York – With furniture and design meets the Installation artist Henrike Naumann (38) outside Zwickau Statements on politics and society. In recent years, mainly in Germany and Eastern Europe. But now, for the first time, the 38-year-old is also involved Donald Trump (76) and the Assault on the Capitol faced – in the middle of NYC.
In the renowned “Sculpture Center” in the “Queens” district, the Saxon presents her exhibition “Henrike Naumann: Re-Education”.
He stacked chests of drawers, desks and chairs against the wall, with pitchforks and an ax in between. Overall, broadly speaking, the whole has roughly the shape of the Capitoline dome.
“In this work, I have focused on the role of furniture in the storming of the Capitol,” says the artist. “The furniture was used both to break in and to destroy windows, but it was also the barricades with which MPs entrenched themselves in their offices”.

She was surprised that there had been little artistic discussion of the Trump presidency up to that point.
“That’s my expertise. Difficult aesthetics, where you have to think because laughter gets stuck in your throat.”
