NeverAwakethe two-stick shoot ’em up set in the world of a girl’s terrifying dreams from developer Neotro and publisher Phoenixx, will continue the nightmare on Xbox consoles in Q2 2023.

Upon its announcement for Switch, PS4, and PS5 in September 2022, the title won numerous awards, including an entry into the Famitsu Golden Hall of Fame in January 2023, Tokyo Game Show 2022 First Selection designation, Best Game from BitSummit 2022 and a Metacritic score of 84 overall, securing a spot in the top 40 best-reviewed PC games of 2022.

About NeverAwake

Enter the subconscious realm of the hapless schoolgirl Rem, whose deepest fears come true. Unable to awaken from her dream, she is faced with the manifestations of her childhood phobias. She battles monster dentists, ghoulish vegetables, evil Chihuahuas, and other teenage problems in a never-ending nightmare.

We’ll shoot and slide through the hair-raising machinations of your mind in fluid twin-stick SHMUP style. We will combat Rem’s hallucinations with a surreal arsenal of weapons. We’ll equip weaponry and upgrades to create epic attack patterns, then smash bad dreams as we swing and swing through enemy fire, including dozens of terrifying bosses.

The launch of NeverAwake en Xbox will include the latest content update 1.1 featuring the secret HIMITSU CHALLENGE after completing World 8, plus six new reality-bending props along with gameplay optimizations and balance tweaks.

We will be able to venture into the dark corners of Rem’s imagination with the digital art book and the official soundtrack of NeverAwake “Nightmare World Art” with the calm tune “AWAKE” by DJ, singer-songwriter and producer YonYon, available on Spotify and Apple Music.

This commented on the game Azusa Kawamura, Phoenixx Producer:

We knew NeverAwake was a special title the moment we saw it. It was a dream of ours to release NeverAwake on all consoles, and we’re proud to be one step closer to achieving that goal by coming to Xbox.

The moving narrative and smooth gameplay have received praise from gamers and critics alike, and Xbox users will be able to enjoy the most recent and polished version of the game.

NeverAwake is available now for PC via Steam for 19.99 euros (with a 15% discount until Friday) and on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for 24.99 euros with support for text in English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.
