This year, the state joint stock company “Latvian Road Maintenance” (LAU) has performed daily maintenance of state roads in the amount of 47 million euros, LAU informed.

The largest daily maintenance works on state roads are the repair of gravel pits and deposits, including the restoration of a wear layer in the amount of 12.1 million euros, simple surface treatment for asphalt roads in the amount of 7.6 million euros and pothole repairs in asphalt roads in the amount of 4.7 million euros.

In order to improve the service life and traffic safety of asphalt paved state roads, a selective single surface treatment of 374 kilometers was performed, and pit repair works were performed in the amount of 224,637 square meters.

In order to improve driving conditions for drivers, gravel roads were graded 89,062 kilometers long and the wear layer was restored., including repair of pits and deposits in the length of 482 kilometers, and double surface treatment in the length of 17.5 kilometers.

In order to ensure water drainage from the road surface, 275,914 cubic meters of ditches were cleaned and 162,870 cubic meters of remote soil growth were removed. Damaged culverts were replaced and cleaned in the length of 6832 meters, while road edges were filled in the amount of 14 786 cubic meters.

Improving the transparency at road junctions and compartment lanes, 8336 hectares of grass were cut and shrubs were cut in 2014 in the amount of 2014 hectares.

In order to ensure the passability of the roads, the roads were cleared of 8069 trees broken by the storm. 6691 damaged road signs and 5900 signal poles were replaced. Safety barriers were replaced in the length of 3465 meters.
