The document indicates that the country’s tax rate which the National Infrastructure Agency and the National Institute of Roads (Invías) would increase by 4.64%.
According to Blu Radio, it is worth remembering that at the beginning of 2024, the price of taxes in the country had also already increased, this time by 13.12%, and its purpose was to guarantee the financial sustainability of road projects and “strengthening the trust of public-private cooperation for the operation, maintenance and construction of concession roads.”
Now, this increase is part of the national government’s plan to change the transfer scheme and compensate for what was received when prices were frozen in January 2023 as a measure to face the high inflation of that time.
The discounted taxes in Huila will also increase in price. Autovía and Ruta al Sur have not yet given the official data and announced that they will announce it in the next few hours, but according to Blu Radio, these are the costs for Category 1.
The expenses
The concessionaire Autovía Neiva – Girardot has two tolls in the Opita area: Neiva and Pata, while Ruta Al Sur has two more: Los Cauchos and Altamira.
- El Pata tax: for category 1, which corresponds to cars, campers and trucks, it increases from $15,700 to $16,400.
- Neiva Tax: for category 1, which corresponds to cars, campers and trucks, it increases from $15,700 to $16,400.
- Altamira tax: corresponding to cars, campers and vans and minibuses with axles of one tire, it rises from $10,700 to $11,200.
- Los Cauchos tax: corresponds to cars, campers and vans and minibuses with single tire axles, it rises from $10,500 to $11,000.
Tolls are the economic contribution made by drivers, road users which is sanctioned by the government to a private entity and allows the development of new, safe roads under optimal conditions.
The government builds and rehabilitates roads through the National Highways Institute, however, due to the scale of the mega engineering work required to effectively connect different regions of the country and quickly, it is impossible for the government to finance them in full, that is why it contributes part and the other comes from paying the taxes.
