This woman complains of constant stomach pain for 20 years, apparently there are surgical scissors left in her stomach

BANGLADESH, KOMPAS.com – A woman in Bangladesh who complained stomach ache constantly over the last 20 years shocked after discovering that he has been living with surgical scissors left on his body after surgery.

The woman’s name is Bachena Khatun who is now 55 years old.

Published Oddity Central, Friday (14/1/2022), Bachena Khatun has been living with constant stomach pain since undergoing surgical removal gallstones at a clinic in Chuadanga, in 2002.

After spending her life savings on the operation, the woman is discharged from the clinic with a prescription or medication.

However, within a few days, he started experiencing pain in his stomach.

Bachena Khatun later returned to the clinic, but her surgeon ignored her concerns.

Instead, the surgeon explained that the pain was normal and that he had nothing to worry about.

Because complaints of stomach pain continued, Bachena then went from one doctor to another.

He explained that the surgery had given him constant stomach pains.

However, all Bachena Khatun received was prescription medication to reduce his symptoms.

Over the years, the Bangladeshi woman was eventually forced to sell the two cows that were her last asset.

He used the money from the sale of the cow to pay for treatment and medicine to relieve his stomach pain.

Unfortunately, all of Bachena’s efforts were in vain, and her recent stomach ache was unbearable.

This time, on the advice of a doctor, he then agreed to undergo an abdominal X-ray.

Well, from this, it is known that there are surgical scissors in Bachena Khatun’s stomach which may have been forgotten or left behind during the operation to remove the gallbladder 20 years ago.

Last week, Bachena Khatun was admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where doctors are struggling to control her diabetes.

At the hospital, the Bangladeshi woman also finally received safe surgical scissor removal.

He was reported to have undergone surgery on Monday (10/1/2022) and is now recovering.

Surgeon Dr Jawaherul Islam said a three-member committee had been formed to investigate how the surgical scissors had remained in Bachena’s stomach for so long.

Cases of scissors left in the stomach in surgery are not very common. But, that doesn’t mean it never happened.

In 2019, a similar case was reported in a Russian woman.
