This will change from 1 May: parking in Brussels more expensive and Proximus raises prices | Inland

In the center of the capital, parking will become more expensive from 1 May, to discourage long-term parking and to encourage drivers to use public car parks. In addition, a resident card becomes more expensive from a second car. Proximus is implementing significant price increases for the popular telecom bundles Flex and Epic.

The biggest change is taking place in the pentagon of the city of Brussels and in the area around Avenue Louise and the European district from the Arts-Law to the Schuman roundabout: from green areas to gray and therefore more expensive areas. In a gray zone, the parking time is limited to 4.5 hours, and motorists pay 2 euros for the first hour, 3 euros for the next three hours and 1.5 euros for the last half hour. In addition, payment must be made until 9 p.m., and no longer until 6 p.m.

Parking in an event zone will be new. That rate will be used for Winter Fun at the end of this year. Parking in that zone costs 10 euros per hour, and parking is also limited to 4.5 hours.

“Too much public space is currently being used as parking”, said Brussels alderman for Mobility Bart Dhondt (Green) during the approval in the Brussels city council at the end of last year. “It is no longer justifiable that cars are parked on the street all day, especially if there is a safe public, underground or above-ground parking 100 meters away. We use the space that becomes available to make our city even more attractive for the inhabitants of Brussels themselves. and its thousands of visitors.”

There is a small change for Brussels residents who want to park their car on the street every day. The first resident card will still cost you 10 euros, but the price of the second resident card will increase from 50 to 110 euros. The third resident card is abolished. If you want to receive someone, you can request a visitor card.

Proximus Flex and Epic are getting more expensive

In January, Proximus had already raised the rates of a number of old formulas. Now the popular bundles Flex and Epic follow. The Business Flex packs for companies are also becoming more expensive. This concerns price increases of 3 to 4 euros per month, for which Proximus referred to increased costs for wages and technological equipment.

For example, a basic Flex subscription with only internet and television will cost 63.99 euros per month from May instead of 59.99 euros. That is an increase of 6.7 percent. For those who take two mobile subscriptions, the price goes from 83.99 euros to 88.99 euros, or plus 6 percent.

Not everything is becoming more expensive: the entry-level subscription for fixed internet is slightly cheaper. That will cost 25 euros per month instead of 27.50 euros. The name changes from Internet Start to Internet Essential. A monthly volume of 100 GB is included and the download speed is up to 50 mbps.
