Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, has presented the new Santiago Bernabéu stadium, whose remodeling works will begin as soon as the season ends at the end of May. The act was directed by Florentino and Manuela Carmena, mayor of the capital, accompanied by a large part of her team in the Madrid government. Representatives of the other political forces also attended, with their candidates in the municipal elections in the lead: Pepu Hernández for the PSOE, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, from the PP; and Begoña Villacís, from Ciudadanos.
A new museum, two opening spaces of more than 25,000 m2 (Castellana and Padre Damián), a 360-degree video scoreboard, gastronomic offer, commercial galleries, boutiques… A leisure destination around Real Madrid that, according to the mayor Manuela Carmena, will become a benchmark in the capital. “We are facing an authentic architectural innovation. It will be an avant-garde and universal icon for Madrid and the city,” said the white president.
The club work will begin when the 2018-2019 season ends, in May, and are expected to be completed in 2022.
