Here we present the first part of the protocol
The NBA season starts on December 22. However, the whole process has been an atypical one where an offseason was a very short one with a draft and start of free agency in the same week, and teams like the current champions – Los Angeles Lakers and the runners-up – Heat of Miami, they are the teams that are most affected in a certain way due to the little rest they have had since the final culminated on October 11 in a ‘bubble’ format that took place in the Disney sports complex World in Orlando, Florida.
As is known, the coming season will not be played in a ‘bubble’ format, which has caused the NBA to have a 134-page detailed guide on health and safety that is much more structured in the event that a player tests positive. of COVID-19, or, the worst case that a team member violates the protocols established by the League to avoid contagion and, as a result of all these situations – the action will be postponed due to positive tests.
If we begin by discussing what the process will be when a player tests positive, it will be dealt with in the following way: if the player is asymptomatic, he will remain out for a period of ten days and, it begins to count at the moment he tested positive the first time . In addition, you will have to pass a cardiac exam and, finally, you will be able to do your training only in the team’s facilities for two additional days before being able to rejoin the function with the rest of the team members, taking into account that it is no longer prone to infecting another player on the team or a member of the coaching staff.
However, if the player is symptomatic, he must remain isolated for ten days until the symptoms do not remain, and then it is necessary to follow the protocol for players who are asymptomatic.
If the player has more severe complications that have to go to the hospital, he can only train for three days, instead of just two – before he is allowed to enter the action with the team.
In the event that an entity or a team breaks the COVID-19 protocol, large penalties can be carried between them: it could suffer punishments that can be divided into several facets, for example: fines, suspensions, loss of elections in the draft and being forced to give up games.
Meanwhile, on whether the games are going to be suspended in case a positive case is reported in a team, the NBA hinted that it trusts the established protocols, so they did not elaborate beyond the situation.
Now what is incumbent on is that the regulations are followed once the season begins.
