Claudio Muñoz, an athlete from Chillán, wants to continue expanding his legacy in the discipline of arm wrestling, where he has won national and South American titles throughout his career.
That is why he announced that the capital of the Ñuble Region will host the “Nacional de Lucha de Brazos” for the first time, which will be held at the Nelson Oyarzún stadium on July 29 and will be a high-level competition that has already It has more than 70 registered with exponents from Copiapó to Puerto Montt and it hopes to reach 100.
On a personal level, Muñoz will be organizing the competition where he highlights that he will have the best exponents of the different categories. The outstanding man in the discipline is focused on competing internationally and although he acknowledges that he has not been able to obtain the results he expected, he is optimistic that he will have a great 2024. In addition, he is expanding the discipline in the area by holding various workshops for men and women.
“This will start at 10 in the morning, it will begin with the weigh-in, we have large registrations from various cities in the country, it will be perhaps the largest event held in Chile. We have arm wrestling in Iquique or Coihaique, but the distances in our country make everything more complicated. We hope that you will join us and that Chillán will be evaluated as a good venue to continue having competitions of this level”, stated Claudio Muñoz.
“On a personal level, I am not competing in Chile, I am more focused abroad, it has been a thankless year for me, in February I was competing in Brazil, where I lost with the number 1 from there in 100 kilos, then recently I was in the United States , in Washington DC, where it did not go as I expected either, I was eighth out of twenty competitors. But I have not lost strength, I am going to prepare better and I am going to face better challenges during 2024”, added the outstanding exponent of the discipline.
It should be noted that Muñoz currently works with a group of 20 chillanejos, ranging from 14 to 25 years old, whom he has been preparing for three months and hopes to add some podiums in this national, in the amateur series, where they hope to play a great role as local city.
“We are with a group of 20 young people, we hope they get good results and continue to grow in the discipline. A good arm wrestler must have a long arm or a big hand, that helps, but for me none is more important than being disciplined, that’s the essential, the peak of strength comes with the same discipline. I left 11 years ago, when no one was practicing this sport, I want to make it easier for these young people and for them to acquire key knowledge”, added Claudio.
Muñoz also commented that there will be great exponents from Santiago and Talca, which are two very strong cities in the discipline.
