This will be Mercedes-AMG’s first electric car

We already knew that Mercedes-AMG is going electric since last week. The EQE is the first model that the specialists from Affalterbach will use.

Mercedes-Benz is coming soon with a huge electric offensive. At the car fair in Munich next September, it will show no fewer than eight new models, five of which are fully electric.

One bow

The EQE is one of them. And that is, as the name suggests, a fully electric E-Class. It will be the brand’s second all-electric sedan, as it recently EQS showed to the world. According to Mercedes, the EQE shows ‘how sporty and at the same time comfortable an electric business limousine can be’. Like the EQS, this elektro-E is designed according to the ‘one bow’ principle: one line that is continuously extended from the nose to the rear of the car, for optimum aerodynamics.

Mercedes-AMG EQE

Mercedes already gives a preview of the EQE. The above photo clearly shows the design language mentioned above, with a line that is slightly interrupted on the back of the front cover. Also striking is the wide hip part, as well as the LED strip that connects the rear lights. At first glance, the interior has the same layout as that one of the EQS, with a large screen integrated into a single panel, running from A-pillar to A-pillar. In the EQS this is called the hyperscreen, with a total of three screens that are 1.41 meters wide. In the image shown here we only see working screens behind the wheel and in the center of the dashboard, but it looks like there is also a screen in the passenger panel.

EQE to AMG

We also see great news from the AMG angle, because in the press release the manufacturer says that this will be ‘the first battery-electric luxury limousine from Mercedes-AMG’. According to the car manufacturer, this EQE shows how a fully electric powertrain can be combined with typical AMG characteristics. It therefore speaks of ‘an emotional driving experience’. Later AMG will also take care of itself over de EQS.

Mercedes-Benz EQS also comes as an AMG version

Mercedes-Benz is therefore showing the completely new EQE at the IAA in Munich, which starts on the evening of 5 September. The carmaker is expected to let you know when we can expect the new model.
