this well-known food would increase the risks, here’s how

This is indicated by a new study, conducted by researchers from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy (Boston, USA) and the Lerner Research Institute (Cleveland, USA), and published in early August in the American Heart Association (AHA) journal Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology. For ten years, they followed 3,931 patients, aged over 65, and studied their eating habits.

Those who consumed Red meat were closely monitored. Why ? Because “higher intakes of red meat” have been linked to an increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). In fact, scientists have found that people who consume a larger amount red meat had a 22% increased risk of developing cardiac pathology.

This phenomenon has not been observed with poultry or even fish. So how can this increased risk be explained? The researchers specify that this could be caused “in part by the intermediary of metabolites (…)
