On the moon August second week, a row phenomenon astronomy will happen in the sky of Indonesia, starting from Perseids meteor shower peak to conjunctions of the Moon with various planets.
The National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) disclosed these various phenomena through their account and account official site.
The following is a summary of astronomy in the second week of August 2021.
Moon-Mars Conjunction
The peak of the Moon-Mars conjunction phenomenon occurred on Tuesday (10/8) at 07.42 WITA/ 08.42 WITA/ 09.42 WIT with a separation angle of 4.3 degrees, so this phenomenon was only seen 20 minutes after sunset. The duration of this phenomenon lasts for 50 minutes.
When in conjunction the Moon is in the initial crescent phase with an illumination of 3.9 percent to 4.1 percent, while Mars’ magnitude is +1.82. The Moon-Mars split angle is 4.90 degrees to 5.13 degrees.
Moon-Venus Conjunction
This phenomenon will take place on Wednesday (11/8). The peak of the Moon-Venus conjunction. It will take place at 14.00 WIB / 15.00 WITA / 16.00 WIT with a separation angle of 4.3 degrees, so that this phenomenon can only be seen 20 minutes after the sun has set for two hours.
When in conjunction, the Moon is in the initial crescent phase with an illumination of 9.2 percent to 9.7 percent. While the magnitude of Venus is -3.95. The Moon-Mars split angle is 3.37 degrees to 3.64 degrees.
Perseid Meteor Shower Peak
The Perseid meteor shower is active from July 17 to August 24, 2021, and its peak will occur on August 12-13, 2021.
This meteor shower is named after the radian point (the point of origin of the meteor shower) located in the constellation Perseus, this meteor shower comes from the dust remnants of comet 109P/Swift-Turtle.
This phenomenon can be seen from the north-northwest to the north, starting at midnight local time until 20 minutes before sunrise.
The intensity of this meteor shower in Indonesia will reach 60-90 meteors per hour, with a speed of 212,400 kilometers per hour.
Early new moon phase
The early new phase is one of the phases of the Moon when the configuration between the Sun, Earth and Moon forms a 90 degree right angle, and occurs before the full Moon phase.
The peak of the early new phase occurred on Sunday (15/8) at 22.20 WITA/ 23.20 WITA/ 00.20 WIT. This phenomenon can be seen from the East-Southeast direction, culminating near Zenit with a duration of about 30 minutes before sunset.
