Gourmet November continues at Caen (Calvados). Friday 19 and Saturday 20 November 2021, Croq’Gourmand, the highlight of this event dedicated to gastronomy, takes place in the Abbey-aux-Hommes.
A new place
November Gourmand is changing this year, since the festival dedicated to gastronomy will no longer take place on Place Saint-Sauveur, where Caen people used to find a large tent.
Side historical cachet, the event will not lose in the change, since its nerve center is now located in the cloister of the Abbaye-aux-Hommes. This is where the highlight of Croq ‘Gourmand will be held, on November 19 and 20.
35 chefs gathered
Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., 35 chefs invite you to taste their famous Normandy bites at 2 euros. The list is long, but you will find, for example, the starred cooks Anthony Caillot (À Contre Sens) and Ivan Vautier, but also Stéphane Carbone, Yohann Lemonnier (Au Fil de l’Ante), Jean-François Roussel (La Table de JF) and Benoît Guillaumin (The Table of Contents).
Pastry chefs will also be present, notably with Alban Guilmet and Anthony Le Rhun (C & Choux). Some cooks will also be there: Inès de Saint-Jorès (L’Aromate), Diana Djedidi (Greedy Guts), Laure D’Andréa and Muriel Lory (Les Petites douceurs), Sandrine Daccache (Vert Framboise), Cécile Guyenne (Le Quartorze), Fanny Vince (Little Deli), etc.
The know-how of young farmers
That same weekend, the Young Farmers of Calvados will be associated with the event.
About twenty producers of milk, meat, fruit and vegetables, and cider products will be present. We will also set up a mini-farm with poultry, calves, etc.
They will offer a local market on the forecourt of the Hôtel-de-Ville, near another market dedicated to foie gras.
A gourmet market
The cloister of the Abbaye-aux-Hommes will also host a gourmet market of 14 exhibitors, to explore all the richness and diversity of the Norman terroir.
Among these, you will find Café Dauré Frères, Chocolaterie Yver, Fromagerie Conquérant, Ferme de Billy, Oh My chef, Safran de Normandie, Maison Stiffler, Vergers de Ducy, Tripière d’Or, Terres de Raisin , Heart of the Fields, etc.
A market dedicated to children
Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the church of Vieux Saint-Sauveur will host a market reserved for children.
6-12 year olds will find around ten stands at their height. They will be invited to run these fruit and vegetable displays, or to do their shopping. A fictitious currency, the Fruitatou, will be distributed to them at the entrance.
