This was written on the weapon that Gökmen T. used in the tram attack in Utrecht

Gökmen T. is suspected of being used up March 18 last year having shot four people in a tram in Utrecht. T. used a firearm with a damper for that attack.

The Public Prosecution Service (OM) soon announced that a text was written on the weapon. But what the text was exactly never became clear.

“You kill people”

RTL Nieuws has now learned from reliable sources that the text is as follows:

“Those who follow Sharia go to paradise. Who follows democracy goes to hell.

You kill people who are Muslims. And Allah let me kill you … “

The Public Prosecution Service had the manuscript investigated to find out whether the texts on the muffler and on a note that he left after the attack were both written by Gökmen T. The results of that investigation are likely to be discussed during the trial. Sources already confirm to RTL News that T. wrote the texts himself and that the weapon found is actually the one used in the attack.

Three days earlier attack in Christchurch

In an attack three days earlier at a mosque in New Zealand, the shooter also wrote texts on his arms. He thereby referred to, among other things, victories over Ottoman armies, but also said he supported other terrorists through the texts.

The text on T.’s coat of arms is of great importance in research into T.’s motive, says professor of sanction law Henny Sackers. “The text on the muffler seems to reinforce the terrorist objective.”

Fear society

Gökmen T. is suspected by the Public Prosecution Service of multiple murder or manslaughter with a terrorist motive. Terrorism involves crimes that are committed on the basis of ideological motives, such as religious motives. The aim is, among other things, to scare a society.

Professor Sackers: “The suspect says he uses the text to act on behalf of God. He formulates it in a way that you think:” I should not encounter this man in a tram. ” That drives fear in a society. That is exactly what terrorism is all about. As long as he continues to feel that assignment, he is simply a danger to society. “

“I do this for my faith”

The text on the silencer is in the same line as the note that was previously found in the Gökmen T. flight car. It was written on that note: “I do this for my faith. You kill Muslims and you want to take our faith away from us, but will not succeed. Allah is great.”

The court has set aside four session days for the substantive treatment of the trial. The prosecution requirement of the Public Prosecution Service is expected on Thursday. There is plenty of evidence. The shooting was recorded by surveillance cameras in the tram, many witnesses were heard and Gökmen T. made a confession. In it he stated that he committed the attack for his faith, out of anger about violence against Muslims and mocking Islam.

T. has personality disorder

Experts from the Pieter Baan Center who examined him have established a personality disorder. He would be weak-minded and less accountable.

T. is obliged by the court to be present at the court case tomorrow, he will be forced to go to the court in Utrecht. T. still refuses legal assistance from a lawyer. The court then assigned him lawyer André Seebregts. Seebregts says that he cannot respond to the disclosure of the text on the weapon, because he has not received any instructions from T. about contacts with the media.
